Stumbleupon: What is it good for?
By Ebower
Find Interesting Websites
Stumbleupon.com helps users find websites that might be unknown, but are high in quaility in regards to educating and entertaining. Instead of typing a topic of interest into a search engine, all the work is done for you. Users pick what subjects they are interested in, such as movies, fashion, art, computer technology, books, relationships, and many more. In my opinion, Stumbleupon is like TV channel surfing for the web.
Community
You can also use this website as you would a social networking site in that you can add friends. Your friends can see what websites you have added as a 'favorite' and you can check out theirs. This is just another way that you can discover unique and fun sites.
Generating Traffic
Those that have blogs, write online articles or hubs, or own a website are always concerned with how much traffic they hold. Stumbleupon can help generate traffic if you add your site directly and if users keep adding reviews for it.
Inspiration
I have used Stumbleupon many times for inspiration when trying to find ideas for my online articles. When I saw a video about tall painting, I was inspired to write an article about unique ways to paint. It is also a great place to help inspire artists, musicians, or any other creative occupations or hobbies. It is very easily personalized for each user; one can click on each area of interest and then further narrow it down by clicking on related subtopics. People can find many reasons to start discovering unusual and creative websites on Stumbleupon.
The Basics
What does it mean to stumble? After setting up a profile, the site will ask you to click on topics that you are interested in. After doing so, you can click the stumble button at the top of the screen and websites will randomly be displayed based on your designated preferences.
How do I add websites that I find somewhere else to Stumbleupon? The easiest way is by adding the Stumbleupon tool bar. You can use the thumbs up and down buttons just as if you were on stumbleupon.com. Another way is to click on the Favorites tab and then click on the add a site button. Provide the URL and your review by describing what the website is about and why people should view it.
How do I add my website or blog? You can add it in the same way that you would add any other site to your Favorites. Another way to recommend any website or your own is to enter the URL and review here: http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit

I heard so much about it, so I had to try it. It's very fun and can get addicting. Yes, I really think it's a great way to come up with ideas for hubs. Thanks for rating!
I had heard of this site before but I wasn't sure what it was. I think now I'm going to try it out myself!
I'm glad I could persuade you. Thanks for reading and commenting!
I read about StumbleUpon here at hubpages but have yet to check it out. I may do so this weekend. I have a couple of blogs that use some traffic. Thanks, E.
I would definitely recommend it for generating traffic. Thanks for reading!

My ex girlfriend raved about stumbleupon. It sounds like a great resource and I am going to check it out right now. I also like the idea of using it to generate hub traffic since I am new to hubpages and still need to learn these things.
Great hub!
It's highly entertaining and provides useful information. Yes, I use it to generate some traffic to Hubpages. Although, I've found that posting my hubs on Facebook and Twitter has proven more successful. Thanks for sharing! :)
Hey what a great hub, very interesting. I will be reading more of your writing. Thanks. Voted up UI I stumbled upon stumble upon years ago and never went back but since I have been on hubpages for a few days now I have created an account there because as you say in may help traffic.

Hello Ebower, I started using Stumbleupon 2 weeks ago. I hope that it will lead to more traffic. I see from the views of other articles that it is certainly possible. It's easy enough to post once you are set up. All part of the learning curve. Thanks for writing this.
I hope it helps you as well. It has helped me to generate some traffic to my hubs. You are very welcome. Thanks for reading!
So you used this word 'addicted' again... . I'm sure you mean it in a good sense ... :) Blessings.
lol I'm sure I did. I tend to enjoy the internet a lot. I am very active on a particular site and then I move on to another one. I will never grow tired of writing on Hubpages. :)
:)
'Addictive' — a bit like some ppl find tattoos to be ...
That's true; I've heard that as soon as someone gets one, they start planning to get another one.
... and it can be similar with piercings, too, right? (Watch out!) Blessings.
Yes, that's true for some. Although, I don't think it has been in my case. It helps when I don't have the money to do anything extra. lol
Ppl can do their own piercings, too, of course, right? Blessings.
That's true, but I'm afraid I'd do something wrong and it would get infected. I'll leave it to the professionals. lol

I hadn't ever stumbled upon this site, I'll have to check it out. As you say, if it can give me some sites based on what I am interested in, that could be an huge resource for hub ideas. You get a vote-up and useful for this hub.
