No One: Chapter 19

By Ebower

Though Katy slept deeply, she did not sleep peacefully. Flashes of various images plagued her: waking up alone on a quiet beach without memory, 'seeing' and 'hearing' Gabe's voice as she waded in the water, tying the knot with her beloved, birthing their little one, the doctor injecting different colored liquids into her body, and seeing the spirit of her one true love. These few memories overlapped and blended in towards each other as if they were choreographed into a well-timed yet sporadic dance. Each movement was related to another, but she couldn't see any cohesive pattern to their steps. Finally, they faded into the background until only Gabe's ethereal ghost was left to say again, "I can't tell you that yet....You'll have to find that out on your own...in your own time...." and in her dream he left her alone once again.

She woke up with frustration and with lingering tears in her eyes. Katy looked to her left and saw the trunk, still turned away from her, sitting on the bedside table. "That stupid thing," she thought and rolled over closer to it so she could get a better look. Slowly, she turned it around so she could see the very front. Katy was surprised to see a familiar mark right below the latch. "Lunal..." she uttered softly, as her fingers traced around the raised black star, "..That wasn't there before," she realized suddenly.

Yes, I guess you look a bit more like a Congresswoman or a CEO now. (Mind you, one of these days, sooner or later, there will be a female CEO or Congresswoman with plugs, I guess ... :) )

Haha I'll take that as a compliment. Yes, I don't see myself getting rid of them anytime soon; although, who knows what my future holds? Only God does.

Sounds as if you really like your plugs, anyway ... ! :)

'f: Yes, I do.'

I thought you did! Do you at least like 0g, too? though if so, maybe you're not considering it yet?

Blessings.

WOW..haunting...like the flow of the words I am anxious to read the creation in it's entirety. Never saw the original photo,so can't comment on that. Miss the red soil of Georgia and the lightening bugs..Sometimes in life we spend years searching for something, not having a clue as to what it is we are searching for, and to later find out it was right in front of us all along...interesting ?

kj force: Thank you! I would love it if you read all of my 'No One' series and then told me what you thought of it so far; more chapters are coming soon. f was commenting about my profile picture, so that's okay. What part of Georgia were you in? I'm in the southeast. Yes, that is very insightful; thanks for sharing! :)

Had two very dear friends from college I used to visit one in Marietta and the other in Valdosta...every summer we would get together. We would drink mint julieps and catch fireflys in a jar, brought back childhood memories..they have both since passed away..I still take an occassional evening to sit on the porch and reflect back, have a mint juliep, but there are no fireflys in Florida.I will check out " No one" series and get back to you...

kj force: Thank you for sharing those precious memories. I'm sorry that your friends have passed away. My dad and brother both went to college in Valdosta; I don't live too far away from there. Thanks so much for reading!

f: It's definitely going! I've gained a few more students, so it's keeping me busy. Thanks for asking.
