Indian Summer: A Poem

65

By Ebower

The flowers' scent spiraling in the autumn air,

Beckons closer to warmth before coolness there,

The greenery makes us gasp with hidden delight,

The sun overhead embraces softly, glinting bright,

A sudden springish burst of life and rebirth,

Makes me frolic in fields of growth unearthed,

For a moment childhood feels quite near,

When conjured memories quietly appear,

Before summer commences its sad farewell,

The balmy weather murmurs a rapturous tale.

Is it has metre?

Ebower, I really enjoyed reading this. The rhyme is not overpowering and the subject is divine. I would read this over and over again. Regards, Hyphen.

So Dang Hung: I didn't write it with a specific meter in mind, but it does seem to flow with the same rhythm.

Hyphenbird: Thank you! I really am enjoying the last few moments of warmer weather, so I thought I'd write something that encompasses it. Thanks for your comment. :)

I love this poem. It makes me think of how I myself get lost in thoughts of my childhood.

Nice job, Erin, this was really lovely. The imagery was fantastic! I especially liked the lines:

"For a moment childhood feels quite near,

When conjured memories quietly appear,"

Voted up and beautiful!

Poetic Fool: You are too kind! I really like writing poetry with imagery, so I'm happy you noticed. :)

Vinaya Ghimire: Thanks! I was outside and smelled some beautiful flowers wafting through the air. That's what inspired me to write about the weather I'm experiencing in Georgia right now.
