Become a Disney Channel Star

Oh my gosh!

Being a Disney Channel star is all about acting over the top. Practice by making faces in the mirror and screaming; that's all there is to it. Do not act natural. Instead, act like a cartoon character. Even better: act like a cartoon character in a soap opera that has overloaded on an energy drink. Perfect! You're on your way to becoming a fabulous Disney Channel star!

Don't Act or Look Your Age

Jason Earles played Hannah's older brother in 'Hannah Montana' from 2006 to 2011. Contrary to his appearance, he began this role at the mature age of 29 and ended it at 34. Take a cue from him; if you are short, have a childish face, or can disguise yourself as an adolescent, you can make it big on the Disney Channel!

Forget child labor laws and the pressure of youngsters learning while working; Disney will be begging 18 year olds and up to act on their shows. All you have to do is look and act immature. Pigtails are your friend. Sneakers, jeans, and graphic T-shirts will have you looking like the boy or girl next door. Revert to your younger years by reminiscing. Now what was it I yelled to my parents after they gave me that stupid curfew? Whine repeatedly, be extremely bubbly, or just plain be loud.

Jason Earle's baby face, short stature and teenage clothes made him appear years younger on 'Hannah Montana'.

Costume

To look like a star meant for Disney magic, you have to be over zealous in your appearance. Males should probably wear skinny jeans, a T-shirt, a vest, sneakers and a hat. Neon or bright colors should be randomly placed for that tacky, layered look. The ladies can have even more fun with layers! Start with an oddly printed shirt, add leggings, throw over a skirt, wear a vest or jacket, add several necklaces, wear 20 bracelets, and 2 scarves (matching is not required). You might want to add some fake neon pink hair or get extremely long extensions. For both, remember that you are acting like a cartoon character in a soap opera; you have to look the part, too!

Layers: check; mixed match colors: check; weird jewelry: check; 'Shake It Up' actors show us how it's done.

Thanks for reading, SusieQ42! I will always be a kid at heart, but I'm sure it's hard for some adults to fit into the Disney Channel star mode. What's funny is that people tell me I look between 5 to 8 years younger then I am. Also, I like to act. I bet if I had more acting training and an agent, I'd be a shoo-in lol. I just think it's hilarious the way Disney Channel stars act so over the top and dress a little crazy. Thanks for your feedback!

Fortunately, I have not ever really had any Disney Channel exposure. I think this has been good for me.

Hmmm...perhaps you're right, Phil. It's pretty good for kids, but just plain ridiculous for anyone else. Thanks for your adding your two cents!

That's the good part of a Disney Channel, but the bad part is they teach starting from 12 years old to have a boyfriend/girlfriend, at 13 have their first kiss, 12 years old not even a teenager. They're too young for that don't you think....my brother volunteers at the Mission Viejo Hospital, while he was volunteering he saw a 14 year old girl came to have a baby - 14 years old pregnant, WOW!

I agree, Jessica741. Twelve and thirteen year olds are too young for boyfriends and girlfriends and for kissing. That is really sad that a 14 year old was pregnant. I wish kids had a longer childhood these days. Thanks for sharing!

Hard to tell ppl's ages on screen, sometimes, isn't it?

You can't always tell accurately.

Yes; using 'overaged' teenagers in teen movies is a usual practice.

Then, of course, the script seems sometimes to reflect 'overaged' ideas, in comparison with the purported age of the character and supposed target age of the viewers. Sometimes it seems that, with certain characters on screen, teddy bears and lollipops extend unquestioningly into talk of rolling condoms, whereas one suspects that this instead reflects an 'overaged' bias.

Blessings.

Yes, I definitely think that the culture is trying to make young people 'grow up' before their time. In my opinion, this is ruining or at least affecting their childhood.

Yes, indeed.

This is why the watershed age of 18 can be regarded as important in a lot of contexts, I think. Too many adult-like assumptions prior to that age are not very appropriate.

Blessings.

That's very true. Just because one becomes a 'legal adult' does not mean they are mature enough for many things.

You're right.

By the behavior of some of the Hollywood crowd, though, some of them manage never to attain adult, responsible behavior, it seems....

Blessings.

That is so true! Appearance and maturity do not always go hand in hand.

A lot of juvenile irresponsibility is really influenced by so called adults from Hollywood, with all their talk of cannabis smoking, condom rolling, and so called civil disobedience.

Anyway, I don't watch much TV, actually.

Blessings.

I believe you're right. That's probably a good thing. I watch more TV online anyways.

ajay nayal: Yes, the Disney Channel is awesome sometimes. This was meant to be funny and not to merely criticize their shows. You are welcome to add me as a friend on facebook; my id is on my profile page. Thank you for reading!
