I'm a beautiful dreamer if You're the dream
I know that this life is more than would seem
You're looking from up above, shining Your glory
Read Your Word, it tells your loving story
A passionate King, giving His prince up for the poor
A guiltless man, beaten, used, and scorn
A holy calling, His duty was fulfilled
Life through his blood, it was death that was killed
I'm a beautiful dreamer if You're the dream
With your love in my heart bursting at its seam
You smile at me, I grin with joy at You
With peace like this, who knows what will ensue?
Thank you, God, for joyful and eternal life
For guidance and strength through the strife
I will wait until that glorious, beautiful day

I like how you describe it. :) A dream seems like a high and lofty goal. It's true that we can't be who God wants us to be by our own power and strength. Through Christ, God doesn't see us and our shortcomings; He sees Jesus and His blood covering us. Dreams can come true if we seek God's will and dreams for our life instead of our own. That's the important part; it's based on God's Word.

PS: re. 'Read Your Word, it tells your loving story'. I just looked at this again and certainly, the theme of love really shines through in John's Gospel and John's epistles; it's a key word. Blessings.

You discuss aspects of dreams.
In the sense that a 'dream' can seem almost too good to be true, I guess that what the hymn calls 'Love so amazing, so divine' can also seem like a 'dream', too. But it's founded on God's Word.
